I'm just trying to question the validity of Zethette's point. Simple really.
But let me try and break it down in a format you can hopefully understand,

I agree with Zethy, MJ with his health issues over the past 15 years, his death has not suprised me and I feel for his fans.

I totally got what Zeth meant! music aside, the man was a fruit loop! Dangling babies from hotel wondows, sleeping with young boys in his bed, numeruous
plastic surgeries to try and look like Diana Ross, bleaching his skin. Living his life like a little boy, the man was NOT normal!!!!No one uderstood him! No
wonder he medicated himself!!!!Im totally not surprised he was on a cocktail of different drugs, that evetually took his life. No brainer really!!!

I am not sure why you are trying to derail this thread Max Q.

Max Q, do not know you, you are new to the site ( I presume, and not a oldie with a different user name ), but you do seem to be on a mission to be negative
towards others?

"derail the thread"? talking about michael jackson in a thread about michael jackson?
i'm not out to be negative towards others. i just raised a querie about the (apparently obvious) downfall of michael jackson's health. it's called discussion. and my name is natalie from bendigo. who knows - i may have met you at dd events. |

i just raised a querie about the (apparently obvious) downfall of michael jackson's healthSorry, I still haven't worked out how to quote in this place! lol Ok, I will explain it in simple english. Did anyone think he would die of a heart attack? nope, drug addiction? nope I don't think so, some weird arsed way, yep. The jury is still out but from what I have read it was drug addiction, not what I would have expected that is for sure, maybe dying while under the knife though! lol I don't think we need to shut this thread, discussion is a good thing but could I suggest Max that you read your posts before you hit "post" to make sure they make sense. So far you comments haven't made any sense, hence people thinking you are trying to derail the thread.

At the risk of stirring the discussion up again, I totally get what Zeth was saying, and would have said exactly the same thing myself. Like Michael Hutchence
(mentioned, I think, somewhere else in this thread), the controversies in MJ's life had overshadowed his music for, at least, the last 15 years.
Notwithstanding his problems - and he obviously had some pretty serious problems - he contributed some brilliant music, and I prefer to remember him
pre-Thriller, when he was on the rise and seemed happy, rather than in decline and distress.

Well, bad news comes in threes - no, fours. Strike the following film and television icons from your Christmas card list:
Karl Malden, from the American Express ads and "The Streets Of San Francisco". Molly "Ooh, my pussy" Sugden from "Are You Being Served. |

I didn't hear about Karl Malden. I quite liked him. I read his biography years ago and found it fascinating.

Ditto what Red said. Would also like to add - it's all a matter of good taste really. Most who have posted were remembering the positives and
'derailing' the thread by introducing the 'negatives' that are so blatantly obvious to everyone aren't warranted when people are mourning
(as many of us who have posted to this thread are).
@ 'Natalie from Bendigo' - are you interested in making friends with fellow Duranies or in stirring the pot just a bit too much with 'discussion'? May I suggest that you get yourself a copy of 'How to win friends and influence people'? Sorry if I offend - it's just discussion, after all. *end of rant*

Not owning a video recorder, I couldn't tape this, but did catch a few little snippets of MJ's memorial service at just after 7 this morning and
whether she was pushed to do it or not, young Paris is one very brave little girl and I couldn't help it but a couple of stray tears fell when I saw this.
Not so much for MJ, but for the fact that those 3 young kids have lost their Dad.
The human side of MJ needs to remembered too, not just the entertainer / musician / weirdo etc and before anyone jumps on me, I'd like to say this: While I do like quite a bit of his music I wouldn't call myself a fan and I ain't gonna defend him but I do think people need to realise there was so much more to Michael Jackson than what we've seen in any of the media he's made himself and in the tabloid media especially. Just a thought anyhow. ETA: I got what Zeth said and there could be a lot more truth to her statement than many of us realise. I tried being normal once. I didn't like it.

Very well said Miss Fizzy.
I didn't watch any of it except the first 10 mins of the 6pm news. Kids crying for their parents always get me no matter who the child/parent is. lol I am a big softie!! I do think the whole round the world mouring thing is a bit OTT but whatever makes them feel better I guess. Now, off to find my old MJ tour program to flog on ebay!!

I know that I'm among friends here, but I feel the need now to clarify my post above to say that I was just speaking of people in general and not having a
shot at anyone here, in case anyone thinks I am.

MJ's daughter had me sobbing...what a brave thing to do, and it really brought it home that MJ was a father, and for those children it must be so
devastating, as it would be for any family, but they have got a rough road ahead now, lets hope the media can stay away and the rest of the family can sort out
custody in a respectful manner.

I have to say - well, maybe I don't have to say it, but I'm going to -
That was the only part of the memorial that felt to me - can't find the word, intrusive/voyeuristic/scripted/manipulated/manipulative - anyway, whether the little one asked to speak and was asked if she would like to speak, I thought a statement from the children read by one of the adults would have been just as fitting and more appropriate. Not trying to stir the pot - just how it felt to me. Su
