Thanks Red!

Now I admit, I scared myself probably more than I should have, but the threat is still very real here.

The main fire here was located as little as 1km out of town (They just said that tv poles were burnt out on a road that is like 4 paddocks away from my place!) and has so far burnt out 3 houses (one of which was a friend of mine's), burnt out the golf club, destroyed the cfa tanker from Dimboola (my old town) and also some sheds and fences etc.

At present the fire has changed direction away from my place and because of this the authorities have had to block the Western Highway to Melbourne because it's jumped the highway and is now threatening properties around the other side of town. It is burning South, West and East of town and has at present burnt out over 5500 hectares.

They have, as of the last radio update, also downgraded the severity of the fire to an "Alert" status from the higher status "Eminent threat" so that is a positive sign.

Fingers crossed the wind doesn't pick up again, but we're not out of danger yet.

Thanks for your concern Red and those on facebook - it is reassuring to me at least to have someone to keep me company and to stop me from scaring myself any more witless than I already am.

I really appreciate it.
