Monday Feb 11 14:45 AEDT
Indie favourites Modest Mouse, Canadian group Hot Hot Heat and homegrown dance act Cut Copy are among the bands added to the line-up of Australia's second V music festival.
Moloko lead singer Roisin Murphy, London's The Rakes and disco trio Glass Candy also join the list of acts to play shows in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth in March and April.
The festival, which was created by Virgin group founder Sir Richard Branson, has been one of the main players in the UK festival arena for many years since its humble beginnings in 1996.
It debuted in Australia last year as part of an international expansion of the UK event with The Pixies headlining.
2008's stellar line-up includes the reformed Smashing Pumpkins, US rockers Queens of the Stone Age, 1980s superstars Duran Duran, Scottish group The Jesus & Mary Chain and French electro act Air.
More acts are expected to be announced soon.
V Festival dates:
* Sydney, Centennial Park - Saturday March 29
* Gold Coast, Avica Resort - Sunday March 30
* Melbourne, Showgrounds - Saturday April 5
* Perth, The Esplanade - Sunday April 6
